Family Planning

Kardinia Health offers a range of Family Planning and sexual health services including:

*Both male or female practitioners are available 

  • SHIP clinic from Melbourne Sexual Health
  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • Advice and information about sexual health
  • Contraception including Implanon, IUDs and emergency birth control
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Cervical screening
  • HIV testing and counselling
  • Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) – medication that can help prevent people from developing HIV if there has been a high risk exposure (a patient needs to attend within 72 hours for this to be considered)
  • Vaccination advice such as hepatitis A, hepatitis B and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)

Kardinia Health staff have completed RhED training and are friendly and non-judgmental. Everyone is welcome to the clinic regardless of sexual preference or gender identity, ethnicity or financial status. Patients are welcome to have a chaperone or support person with them to their appointment.
Confidentiality is taken very seriously, the sexual health clinic is run parallel to our general practice.

The clinic operates every Thursday afternoon, consultations at other times by arrangement.
