Joanne Richardson

Joanne is a mental health social worker with 25 years experience working in a diverse range of health settings.  She has worked predominately in public mental health and drug and alcohol services delivering a range of clinical services for individuals, groups and families.

Joanne is a registered Medicare provider for focused psychological strategies. She delivers evidence based counselling services for adults and young people with drug and alcohol and/or mental health issues.

Her main therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy, CBT for voices, motivational interviewing and mindfulness.  She is also influenced by principles of strength based and schema therapy approaches.

Joanne offers counselling for drug and alcohol issues, eating disorders and gambling behaviours.  She has extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, drug induced psychosis, schizophrenia and bi polar.

Over the years Joanne has designed several large scale health programs that have been rolled out state-wide; and delivered a diverse range of workplace training and mentoring programs for RTO’s, mental health, drug and alcohol services.

Joanne views health as a dynamic mind body connection.   She is an advocate of shared care, service coordination and family focused interventions where relevant.
