Dr Jane Opie

Jane was born in rural Victoria and qualified in Medicine from the University of Melbourne in the 1980s. She worked for six years in the hospital sector prior to commencing work within General Practice. She chose to settle in Geelong due to its strong healthcare community and also because it is a great place to live and raise a family. She has worked as a GP within the Geelong community for more than 25 years in practices based at Lara, East Geelong, Corio (headspace), and Kardinia Health.

She completed a Master of Public Health degree in 2005 and is interested in preventive health for the whole population. Jane has also worked within a research team and continues to have involvement in research through her ongoing work at the Western Victoria Primary Health Network.  She is an advocate for quality primary healthcare and enjoys working as part of a team alongside other health professionals from Nursing and allied health disciplines.

She also tutors, lectures and is an examiner for medical students within the Deakin University School of Medicine.
